Empowering people with Down’s Syndrome
to live the life they choose

Supporting families with Down’s Syndrome.

Welcome to

Down Syndrome Cheshire

Our charity was founded in 2007 by a group of parents, who realised how important it is to connect with other people in order to share experiences. Our aim is to provide opportunities for parents, carers, siblings and extended family networks to have fun in a fully inclusive environment, where a child with Down’s syndrome is one of many, rather than one of a few.

We run regular support activities for people with Down’s syndrome and their family members. We are here to support you and your family through the current coronavirus pandemic and beyond.

GET INVOLVED

Family Support

Research has shown that providing a fully inclusive social environment improves children’s self-esteem.

Education

Over recent years there has been significant research into how best to use a child with Down’s syndrome’s own strengths to optimise learning.

Friendship Groups

Having fun with friends is an important part of life for everyone. Providing opportunities for this for children with Down’s syndrome is vitally important to us.

Events & Training

We run events, training sessions and meetings across Cheshire to raise awareness, provide support to families, and share best practice education and resources.

Fundraising

Our fantastic fundraisers do all sorts of weird and wonderful challenges to raise money for us and we are so grateful for their help. Could you support us by fundraising?

Corporate

We work in partnership with Cheshire businesses to achieve great things for people with Down’s syndrome and their families.

Get Up For Downs

Run, walk, cycle or swim 213km or miles on World Down Syndrome Day on 21st March at your own pace, in your own time. Challenge yourself or compete as a team to help unlock the potential of people with Down’s syndrome and support them to be part of your community.

There is no minimum fundraising target – we’re grateful for every penny you are able to raise! Many of our supporters use JustGiving or you can download a sponsorship form here
