We run friendship groups

Enjoying activities with friends is an important part of life and we strive to provide opportunities for social interaction and friendship for children and young people with Down’s syndrome. This includes learning new skills, such as football or dance, getting out in the fresh air or enjoying a night out with pals at a restaurant.

We run regular activities for people with Down’s syndrome and their family members. For more information or to book onto an activity for free, see our interactive calendar of events or contact admin@dscheshire.org.uk

What We Do

Cheeky Monkeys

We host regular playgroups in Crewe, Chester & Warrington, called Cheeky Monkeys. They are aimed at children from birth to pre-school age. The sessions are very informal, providing parents and carers with the opportunity to share experiences and exchange ideas. Each session ends with the group singing and signing their favourite songs, so why not pop along!

Dates & times: Generally the sessions are held fortnightly on alternate Wednesdays and Fridays between 10 am and 12 noon.
Venue: Crewe – Hopes and Beams, Broad Street, Crewe, CW1 3UD, Chester – The Children’s Centre, Carlisle Road, Blacon, Chester CH1, Warrington – tbc

DS Yoga

Join Savitri Jo Kirwin for a fun yoga class. We will get bendy and stretchy and try to stand on one leg, then have a nice lie down at the end to let our bodies recover!  This is a fabulous new fortnightly event for us and one that promises to be great fun. It will be led in small groups.  Participants will be contacted beforehand with a medical form to be filled in and with advice for taking part in the sessions.

Please note our yoga sessions are currently being hosted online via Zoom on Mondays at 4.30 pm.

DS Drama **Coming Soon**

We’re very excited to bring you our latest partnership initiative in the shape of our DS Drama group. In conjunction with the Jude Theatre Company and Petty Pool College, the aim of this project is to bring together our young people aged 14yrs + to explore themes of personal development, life skills and growth, within a safe, secure and dynamic drama-focused environment.

The sessions, made possible through generous funding from the Cheshire Community Foundation, will be led by members of the Jude Theatre Company who offer a wealth of experience in exploring alternative ways to support participants of any age group, background or ability to explore and gain information about a range of issues in an variety of environments.

Pizza Plus

We recognise the importance of age-appropriate activities for people with Down’s syndrome. Our pizza plus nights are a chance for members age 12+ to get together and enjoy a meal and a chat independently, whilst their parents and carers are sent to the other side of the restaurant!
