Volunteer Stories

January 5, 2026
In December, two of our amazing volunteers, Evie and Paige , attended the CWVA Volunteer Awards after both being shortlisted for awards recognising the incredible work they do here at Down Syndrome Cheshire. We are so grateful that their dedication, passion, and hard work were recognised at such a special event. We are especially proud to share that Evie won her category and was named Young Volunteer of the Year , a truly well-deserved achievement! Thank you, Evie and Paige, for everything you do for our charity and our community. We couldn’t do this without you

Celebrating kindness, dedication and support...

Down Syndrome Cheshire is so grateful to its army of dedicated volunteers and wanted to use Volunteers Week this year to champion these superheroes and the work they do for us.  Check out our exclusive videos below and meet Sarah, Andy, Julia and Colin, who tell us why they chose to volunteer, what it means to them and why others should give it a go...

“Volunteering with Down Syndrome Cheshire has been great fun and provided me with valuable experience for my career in health and social care.” Sarah, volunteer."

“The volunteer sector is critical in supporting extra services and activities for people - especially for the charity sector"

“The service users are amazing, and I've had so many opportunities to learn new skills, and meet so many different people...and the social life is great!"

“It's a good idea to explore volunteering with DSC because they really look at your skill sets and gifts and what you could contribute - and you really feel valued."
