Employability Week

Employability Week

Our first ever Employability weeks were a success!!

We were able to offer 8 different employment settings for our 16+ members to attend, these included Ginger and Pickles tearoom and bakery, Radio Northwich, Chester FC, Morrisons Manufacturing, Co-op, A Plan Insurance and a banking session ran by HSBC.

Thank you so much to all the employers that we have visited over the past 2 weeks for providing our members invaluable work experience and for being absolutely amazing!

If you know of an organisation who would be interested in supporting somebody with Down syndrome into employment then please feel free to contact Lucy our Employability and Enterprise Worker lucym@dscheshire.org.uk

Here is what our members thought:

‘It was a real success’

‘Gained new skills in communicating with new people’

‘He absolutely loved it, can’t thank you enough for including him’

"Darcey is going to walk for 21 minutes for 3 weeks in October to support DS Cheshire as her challenge for Down Syndrome awareness month! Darcey isn’t one for walks, she loves coming in from school and chilling out doing creative stuff, so this may not sound a task to some, but for Darcey this is a physical and mental challenge. Please support her on this personal challenge which I know she will smash and all in a great cause."
